LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A Phillipsburg woman was charged Wednesday after allegedly striking a Lopatcong Township officer in the face.
Shaniqua S. Washington, 28, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
At 8:30 p.m., township police responded to the Big Lots, located at 755 memorial Parkway, for the report of a theft of a purse. Police soon identified the accused as Washington, police said.
While police were speaking with Washington, she became irate and charged toward an officer, striking him in the face. The officer sustained minor cuts to his face during the incident, police said.
Washington was taken into custody and later transported to Lopatcong headquarters. She was lodged in the Warren County Jail while she awaits a hearing.
