READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A Readington Middle School employee was charged Tuesday for allegedly stealing a box of candy.
Peter Marro, 56, of Flemington, NJ was charged with theft of moveable property.
At 11:10 a.m., township police responded to Readington Middle School for a report of a theft, police said.
Staff members reported to police that an employee was seen removing an item from the school and placing it in his personal vehicle, police said.
The item, a box of candy valued at approximately $50, was a wrapped Christmas gift that did not belong to the employee. The box of candy was turned over to police and returned to the school, police said.
Police didn’t release what Marro’s job title was at the school.
Marro was released without bail on the condition that he appear in Readington Municipal Court in the future.
