Tod A. Theise, 55, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, refusal to submit to chemical breath test, careless driving, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, Newton Police Lieutenant Robert Osborn said.

On New Year’s Day at 2:10 p.m., town police received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a pickup truck had crashed into a house at 57 High Street and that the vehicle was trying to leave the scene.

Officers responded to the area and found the vehicle being operated by Theise, Osborn said.
