MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – A Morristown man has been charged in connection with a robbery outside a Wells Fargo Bank Wednesday evening.

Michael Conway, 37, has been arrested on charges related to a robbery and carjacking that occurred during the early evening hours on Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 87 Ridgedale Ave, according to Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morristown Police Chief Peter Demnitz.

On Jan. 3, at about 5:40 p.m., law enforcement was notified that a robbery had occurred at the outdoor ATM of Wells Fargo Bank, Knapp said.

Conway allegedly approached a victim on foot, demanded cash, and stated that he had a gun.  After receiving an amount of cash from the victim, Conway fled from the scene in the victim’s vehicle.  The vehicle was subsequently recovered, Knapp said.

Conway was taken into custody on Thursday by Morristown Police detectives. He was charged with carjacking, robbery, and theft of a motor vehicle. He was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility, Knapp said.

The Morristown Bureau of Police were assisted by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office – Criminal Investigation Section, and the Major Crimes Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
