Washington Borough’s ex-clerk sentenced to 7 years in prison for stealing $97K

BELVIDERE NJ (Warren County) – A former clerk and manager of Washington Borough was sentenced after pleading guilty to theft.

Kristine Henry, 48, of Easton Pa., who went by the last name Blanchard during her employment, was sentenced by the Honorable H. Matthew Curry at the Warren County Courthouse in Belvidere on Thursday.

During her plea allocution, Henry admitted to stealing $97,182 from the Borough of Washington by writing checks to herself and cashing them between the dates of August 25, 2011 and June 28, 2016. She further admitted that she intended to permanently deprive the Borough of said funds, the prosecutor’s office said.

Henry was sentenced to 7 years in New Jersey State Prison. He further ordered her to pay restitution in the amount stated above and barred her from ever seeking/obtaining public employment for life.

Henry pled guilty on September 28, 2017, to one count second-degree theft relative to the theft.
