PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A driver of a New Jersey Department of Transportation snow plow was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated after allegedly striking two vehicles.
Roger S. Attieh, 36, of Boonton was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated in a commercial motor vehicle and reckless driving, police said.
At around 5:43 p.m., a township officer responded to the intersection of Boulevard and Route 23 to investigate a report of a motor vehicle accident, police said.
When police arrived, it was discovered that a N.J. Department of Transportation plow truck had side swiped a vehicle. Attieh then exited his truck and inspected the damage. He returned to his vehicle, began to drive away and then struck a second vehicle in the rear, police said.
No injuries were reported in either crash, police said.
While officers spoke with Attieh, they observed several behaviors and signs consistent with alcohol impairment. After performing several field sobriety tests, Attieh was arrested, and transported to headquarters, police said.
He was released to a third party and has a pending appearance in municipal court.
