Mount Olive Sam’s Club Suddenly Closes it’s Doors

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – It’s a sad and shocking turn of events for Mount Olive Sam’s Club shoppers, who will have to go elsewhere to get their groceries.

The Sam’s Club located at 81 International Drive South closed its doors Wednesday night for the last time.

The abrupt closure came after an announcement on Sam’s Club’s Twitter stating, “After a thorough review of our existing portfolio, we’ve decided to close a series of clubs and better align our locations with our strategy.”Image may be NSFW.

With regards to the store’s pharmacy, Mount Olive Mayor, Rob Greenbaum says, “That’s the only aspect of the store that will remain open for a limited period of time to relate to prescription medicine aspect. I believe the pharmacy will be open until the 27th of January.”

The Mayor also expressed his concern for the ITC Sam’s Club employees. Some employee’s reportedly received notice of the closure only hours before the ITC Crossing’s location officially shut down.

“The representative from Sam’s Club did indicate that they would be working with employees to try and find them additional work. The Walmart store in Mount Olive is not closing. I assume that some people will end up getting jobs there,” says Mayor Greenbaum.

Sam’s Club’s parent company, Walmart, has yet to provide a comment on the matter.

The closest Sam’s Clubs to Mount Olive are in Seacaucus, Edision, and Easton Pennsylvania.
