Man injured after nail ‘fired’ from nail gun grazed his eye

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A man was injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck in the eye by a nail.

At around 2:15 p.m., township police responded to a residence on Columbine Road for a report of an eye injury due to a nail gun, police said.

An employee, who works for the Better Basement Company, was struck in the eye while firing a nail gun into the baseboard trim, police said.

The nail struck a hard surface and ricocheted back at the employee and grazed him in the eye, police said.

The New Jersey State Police’s NorthSTAR medivac transported the victim to University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.

His name was not released by police.
