MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Flanders man was charged Tuesday after he allegedly used gift cards to pay a prostitute.

Craig A. Nakonechy, 28, was charged with promoting prostitution.

At around 4:15 p.m, township police responded to the CVS Pharmacy, located at 255 Route 46, for the report of suspicious activity, police said.

It was reported that a male purchased multiple gift cards, and repeatedly walked in and out of the store, police said.

When the officer arrived, he observed Nakonechny seated in a parked vehicle, which was not running, and appeared to be watching the police arrive, police said.

The officer spoke with Nakonechny, and observed multiple gift cards, which were all scratched off as if used, on the front seat of the vehicle, police said.

Through a police investigation, they determined that Nakonechny had purchased the gift cards to pay for the services of an individual for the purpose of engaging in prostitution, police said.

Nakonechny was placed under arrest, and transported to police headquarters. He was then released pending a court hearing.
