PARSIPPANY, NJ (Morris County) – A portion of Parsippany Boulevard is closed after a suspected drunk driver collided with a utility pole Friday morning.

A pickup truck crashed into a utility pole on Parsippany Boulevard, which caused the utility pole to break in multiple areas, police said.

Parsippany Boulevard is closed to all through traffic between the intersection of Route 46 East and Littleton Road, police said.

Residents who live in Brookside Senior Center and Tivoli Gardens can only access their homes by entering from the Littleton Road side, police said.

The closure is expected to be in place through Friday morning as JCP&L works to stabilize the pole so the truck can be removed and repairs can be completed, police said.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The name of driver was not released.
