Newton brothers facing drug charges

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A joint investigation by the Sussex County Gangs Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Newton Police Department has led to the arrest of Newton brothers.

Daniel Devine, 34, was charged with second-degree distribution within 500 feet of a public place and two counts of second-degree distribution of heroin.

Ryan Devine, 39, was charged with third-degree conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, second-degree conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a public place and third-degree aiding a person to sell a controlled dangerous substance.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the brothers had allegedly distributed heroin within the Town of Newton, police said.

On May 16 at around 8:30 p.m. both were arrested and they were allegedly found to be in possession of 150 bags of heroin and 2 syringes, police said.

Both brothers were lodged in the Sussex County Jail pending a date in court.
