NJ state police seek public’s help in identifying attempted shoplifter

HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying an attempted shoplifter.

On Wednesday, May 2, the male suspect pictured in the surveillance still entered the Weiss Market in Newton and attempted to leave with a shopping cart full of Red Bull energy drinks without paying. A security officer prevented him from stealing the cart, but was unable to detain the suspect.

A short time later, the suspect entered the Walmart in Hampton Township and again, attempted to leave with a shopping cart full of Red Bull. Loss prevention personnel prevented the suspect from stealing the cart, but were unable to stop him. The suspect left in the vehicle pictured in the surveillance image.
