HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – Two men are facing charges for allegedly possessing a knife while at Rite Aid.
On May 4 officers responded to Rite Aid, located on Hopatchung Rd, for a report of two males in the store, with one carrying a large hunting knife in his back pants pocket, Hopatcong Police Lt. Meghan McCluskey
When officers arrived at Rite Aid, they observed the two males, identified as Nathan Torres and Robert Cupo, walking out of the store, McCluskey said.
The officer asked Torres and Cupo if they had a knife on them and they both replied yes. Cupo had a Break-up County hunting knife with a nine inch blade in his back right pocket and Torres had a Mossy Oak hunting knife with a six inch blade attached to his belt, McCluskey said.
“When asked why they had these knives they said it was for protection against bears and other animals,” McCluskey said.
When asked if they possessed hunting or fishing licenses and they both said no, McCluskey said.
Cupo and Torres were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. Police didn’t release where the two lived.
