NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A 34-year-old Landing woman is facing several charges including possession of heroin after police pulled over a vehicle in which she was a passenger.
On May 26 at 12:10 a.m., a town officer was on Sparta Avenue when he allegedly observed a blue Ford Fusion fail to maintain its lane of travel as it proceeded eastbound on Sparta Avenue. The officer also noticed that the vehicle had no inspection sticker and an inoperable headlight, police said.
Subsequently, the vehicle was stopped and its driver was identified as Jonathan J. Dsouza, 29, of Jersey City, NJ. Upon further investigation, the lone female passenger, who initially provided false information, was eventually identified as Krystyn N. Romualdo, 34, of Landing, NJ, police said.
A check revealed that active warrants existed for Romualdo from Randolph and Frankford Joint Court with a total of $2,250.00 bail, police said.
As a result, Romualdo was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest allegedly yielded 2 straws to ingest a controlled dangerous substance and 20 bags of suspected heroin, police said.
Romualdo was charged with obstruction of the administration of law, hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree possession of heroin.
Romualdo was then turned over to Randolph Police and lodged in the Morris County Jail.
Dsouza was issued summonses for failure to maintain lane, maintenance of lamps and failure to inspect.
