Cooling center will be opened at municipal building

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – The Town of Hackettstown has announced that a cooling center will be opened on Thursday July 7 and Friday July 8 as the weather heats up in the area. WeatherWorks, LLC. in Hackettstown has forecasted that temperatures will be around 90 on Thursday and 85-90 on Friday before falling into the high 80’s this weekend.

The NJ DEP has issued an air quality alert Code Orange in Warren, Morris, Sussex and Hunterdon counties for Thursday. This means that the air may become unhealthy for children, people with asthma, heart disease and the elderly. Strenuous activity and exercising outdoors should be limited during this time.

Residents are invited to beat the heat at the Hackettstown Municipal Building, 215 Stiger Street between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The Town also said that If any resident looses power the municipal building will also be a charging station for cell phones, computers, etc.
