BLOOMSBURY BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County) – New Jersey State Police say Brittany Berger, 26, of Greenwich Township, NJ (Warren County) spit in the face of an EMS worker who responded to her home after being injured on Monday, July 4.
Perryville troopers and Pattenburg Volunteer EMS responded to Berger’s residence at 12:42 a.m. after she sustained a laceration, police said.
When a volunteer EMS worker tried to provide treatment, Berger spit on the victim’s face and then kicked him. Berger was arrested and then transported to Hunterdon Medical Center where she was treated and discharged, police said.
Berger was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. She was lodged at the Hunterdon County Jail in lieu of $5,000 full cash bail.
“Being a trooper can be a dirty job at times. But let’s not forget our first responder partners who are often right in the mix with us. Let’s give them a shout out for tirelessly working to help save lives! And remember that many of the first responders in your area are VOLUNTEERS…just like our victim,” New Jersey State Police said on their Facebook page.
