NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – Two brothers are facing drug charges in Newton.
Daniel Devine, 34, of Newton was charged with third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substance.
Ryan Devine, 39, of Newton was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.
On June 24 at around 12:00 p.m., police responded to a Main St boarding house in an attempt to locate and arrest Daniel Devine on an active warrant out of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department, Newton Police Lieutenant Robert Osborn said.
When officers arrived, they located Daniel Devine within the house and he was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant. While arresting Devine, officers observed five suspected bags of heroin on a nearby nightstand and he allegedly claimed ownership of that heroin, Osborn said.
Subsequently, four bags of suspected heroin and a small plastic bag with suspected marijuana was also found on a couch within the apartment and Ryan Devine allegedly admitted that those items belonged to him, Osborn said.
Both brothers were lodged in the Sussex County Jail.
