BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Blairstown Township police are warning the public of a phone scammer posing as a Blairstown Township police officer demanding money for outstanding charges.
A resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be a police officer from the Blairstown Police Department. The person demanded they make an $1,800.00 payment for three outstanding charges or a warrant would be issued, police said.
The person also provided a phone number for them to call and make payment, police said.
“This is a scam and the scammer can “spoof” the number to make it look like they are calling from any number they wish,” police said.
Police departments will not call people to make a payment over the phone, police said.
