Local fire department collecting gift cards for house fire victims

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A three-alarm fire destroyed a home Thursday afternoon in Independence Township.

The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. at 4 Mount Rascal Road.

When firefighters arrived on scene, the garage and the floor above garage were fully engulfed in flames.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were emergency crews from Tri-County, Mansfield, Oxford, Mountain Lake, Hackettstown, Washington Boro, Allamuchy, Budd Lake and Flanders

The Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department is now collecting gift cards for the family members who lost their belongings in the fire.

Firefighters will be collecting gift cards at the firehouse, located at 24 Cemetery Road, on Monday, July 23 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Any and all gift cards for the family will be accepted.
