MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 59-year-old Hackettstown man was charged after he allegedly slapped an ice cream shop cashier Sunday evening.
David L. Simon was charged with simple assault.
At around 6:43 p.m., police responded to Das’ Creamery, located at 100 Route 46 in the Budd Lake section of the township, for a report of an assault, police said.
According to police, Simon responded back to the business to get a refund for a previous purchase. The employee advised Simon that they could only email the customer his receipt.
Simon allegedly didn’t agree to this policy and struck the female cashier in the face with an open palm, police said.
Police collected video evidence and arrested Simon.
Simon was release pending a court appearance.
