SPARTA TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) – A 30-year-old woman from Ogdensburg is facing charges in connection with an early morning crash that occurred on Sunday, Sgt. Dennis Proctor said.
Beagle was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse north on Route 517 at 3:23 a.m. when it struck a disabled Nissan Altima on the side of road, which then struck a 2002 Hyundai Elantra, Proctor said.
The impact injured two 17-year-old juveniles and seriously injured 21-year-old Erica Flowers from Vernon while they were waiting outside of their vehicles for AAA. Flowers was standing between the Nissan and Hyundai during the time of the crash, Proctor said.
Flowers was taken to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries from the crash. The two juveniles and Beagle were taken to Newton Medical Center with minor injuries, Proctor said.
Beagle was charged with one count second-degree aggravated assault by auto in a school zone and two counts of third-degree assault by auto in a school zone. Additional motor vehicle charges are pending including driving while intoxicated when the investigation is concluded, Proctor said.
Beagle was unable to post the $65,000 bail with a ten percent option and was lodged in the Sussex County Jail pending a court appearance.
