N.J. State Police seize $2.88M worth of heroin during traffic stop on I-78 in Warren County

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) – New Jersey State Police find $2.88 million worth of heroin during a State-wide Domestic Highway Enforcement detail, authorities said.
 
On Sunday, August 14, the State Police Mobile Safe Freight Training Unit stopped a tractor trailer for a safety inspection on Interstate 78 eastbound at milepost 6.4 in Greenwich Twp, N.J., police said.
During their inspection, troopers located 36 kilograms of Heroin hidden within the trailer, police said.
 
Oscar Franco, 58, of Chula Vista, CA was arrested for being in possession of $2.88 Million worth of Heroin. Franco was charged with possession of Heroin and Possession of Heroin with intent to distribute. He was lodged at Warren County Jail in default of bail, police said.
 
“Heroin is poison, plain and simple. These troops just prevented $2.8 million in poison form hitting our streets! That’s a lot of poison,” New Jersey State Police said in a Facebook post.
