FREDON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sussex County) – New Jersey Sate Police arrested a 40-year-old Stillwater Twp man for driving with a suspended license due to multiple DWI convictions.
“Sussex troopers were on the lookout for Fawcett and as fate would have it, they found him. Troopers discovered that Fawcett was allegedly cruising around the area despite having his license suspended due to several DWI convictions,” state police said.
On Friday, October 14 at 9:49 a.m., Trooper David Thomas happened to spot Peter C. Fawcett driving on southbound State Highway 94 at milepost 17.1 in Fredon Township, state police said.
During the stop, the trooper was able to confirm that Fawcett’s license was suspended for several DWI convictions. As a result, Fawcett was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while suspended for DWI. He was subsequently lodged at the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail with 10%.
“When someone is charged with driving while suspended, it is considered a traffic violation and placed on a traffic summons like a speeding ticket, not a criminal complaint. In New Jersey, it is considered a criminal violation if you drive while your license has been suspended as a result of a DWI conviction. And that’s why Peter Fawcett was arrested, jailed, and now potentially faces even more jail time,” state police said on their Facebook page.
