Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Jefferson Township Police Chief William
Craig announce a community event to address the opiate and heroin epidemic.
The event, which is open to the public, is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Jefferson Township Middle School Media Center, 1000 Weldon Rd, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438.
The doors open at 6:00 pm to highlight and showcase recovery and treatment facilities, as well as strategies for prevention through education and recovery. Representatives from the Center for Addiction Recovery Education & Success (CARES) and the Jefferson Township Municipal Alliance Committee will provide advice to families who have been touched by addiction. Volunteers whose lives have been affected by opiates and heroin will also be present to have one on one discussions during and after the event. Moreover, the recent opening of the CARES Recovery Center in Jefferson Township will be announced and promoted.
The presentation will begin at 7:00 pm with Jefferson Township Mayor Russ Felter and Jefferson Township Deputy Police Chief Eric Wilsusen providing introductions and welcoming statements. Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp will then provide an overview of the opiate and heroin epidemic in Morris County, and discuss what is being done by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office to combat the problem. Following Prosecutor Knapp, Morris County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Brad Seabury will give a presentation on the evolution of the opiate and heroin epidemic in New Jersey and in Morris County. Jefferson Township Police Chief William Craig will then speak about how opiates and heroin are affecting his jurisdiction.
Following the presentation, Prosecutor Knapp, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Seabury and Police Chief Craig will be available to answer questions from the audience regarding the opiate and heroin epidemic.
