MORRIS COUNTY, N.J.-Route10, Hibernia Road, Sussex Turnpike and Long Hill Roads to be closed.
A series of major Morris County rail and road projects are in progress or will soon begin, with road closures, single lane traffic and detours in place that will result in traffic delays while the improvements are being completed over the next few weeks across the county.
Some of the county road projects were delayed due to the Transportation Trust Fund stalemate in state government in Trenton that was recently resolved.
“We ask county residents to be patient over the next few weeks as we get these improvements done, all of which will greatly improve our road and rail transportation network, which are vital to the high quality of life in Morris County,’’ said Freeholder John Cesaro. “We are working with local municipalities and police to ensure safety and communications with county residents.’’
Projects are or will occur on roads and rail crossings in Boonton Township, Butler, Chatham Township, Harding, Parsippany, Randolph, Rockaway Borough, and Rockaway Township.
The work is expected to affect motorists from other towns who use these roads, including Sussex Turnpike, Route 10, South Beverwyck Road, Boonton Avenue, Long Hill Road, Hibernia Road, and Ironia Road to commute to and from work or school.
The latest closure to be announced is Ironia Road for a two-month bridge replacement project at the Randolph and Chester Township border, between South Road and Dover-Chester Road.
