HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) – Hackettstown police are encouraging residents to thank school crossing guards during the month of November.

During this month of thankfulness, the Hackettstown Police Department, Safe Kids and with the support of FedEx, is showing our appreciation for school crossing guards, police said.

“They protect our kids on their way to and from school. They encourage safe behaviors. And they show up rain or shine,” police said.

“We aim to raise awareness about the tremendous contribution that crossing guards make to protecting kids on the move and to recognize their hard work through a campaign devoted to saying thank you,” police said.

The police department is encouraging everyone to:

  • “Thank your crossing guard”
  • “As you pass a crossing guard, make sure to stop and say thanks. They work hard to keep our kids safe”
  • “Is your crossing guard great? Take a picture and tweet it with #crossingguard to show them you appreciate all they do”

Your favorite school crossing guard can be submitted by clicking HERE, to be considered for ‘America’s Favorite Crossing Guard’.
