Memorial Day is a state holiday, which means all government offices that are considered non-essential are closed.
Most schools, businesses and universities are also closed.
Memorial Day is also a federal holiday, mail will not be delivered Monday, and the U.S. Postal Service will be closed. Fed-Ex will also be closed, as will UPS — though its critical service will still be delivering.
Banks will not be opened on Memorial Day, including branches like Chase Bank, Bank of America, TD Bank, Wells Fargo and PNC, all of which list the day as a bank holiday.
Financial and stock markets will be closed for Memorial Day — as will federal, state and local courts.
Like all state agencies throughout the state, all Motor Vehicle Commission facilities and inspection stations will be closed on Memorial Day.
NJ Transit trains will operate extra service during the Memorial Day weekend. For a complete rail schedule, NJ Transit suggests using its station-to-station trip planner to check arrival and departure times. PATH trains will operate on a Saturday schedule.
Most malls and shopping centers throughout the state will be open.
