PORT MURRAY, NJ (Warren County) – The beauty. The scent. The memories made when your family heads out to choose and cut a Christmas tree to decorate your home.

This year, head to Warren County in New Jersey’s “Christmas Tree Belt” to select the perfect tree!

The rolling hills and valleys of Warren County, in northwestern New Jersey’s Skylands region, offer the perfect climate and soils for growing Christmas trees. In fact, in 10 of the past 12 years, the Grand Champion tree in the New Jersey Christmas Tree Growers annual competition has come from Warren County, and trees grown in the county have graced the White House in Washington, DC as well.

Plus, the journey is part of the thrill. Enjoy a drive on scenic country roads to the tree farm, and be sure to dress for the weather and have good footwear, a hat and gloves for your stroll among the evergreens.

Many of the farms also offer holiday decorations, including wreaths, roping, centerpieces, grave blankets and additional items made from evergreen boughs, and some have shops where you can find holiday gifts, tree stands, ornaments and other goodies.

Warren County’s Christmas tree farms often offer hot chocolate or cider and cookies to warm you up after you tramp between the rows of trees to find the finest fir, a superior spruce or the perfect pine.

Make a day of it! When planning your tree-hunting trip to Warren County, check out the ExploreWarren events calendar to see what’s happening that day. Holiday events include craft and gift shows, theater events for the whole family, historic sites decorated for the season, holiday concerts, and even an old-fashioned carol sing held in an historic church in a restored 19th Century village in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Here are some of the choose-and-cut Christmas tree farms you’ll find in the Christmas Tree Belt, Warren County, NJ. Click on the name of each for more information including location, hours, and types of trees available, as well as special offerings and activities.
