UPDATE: Victims identified in double fatal motorcycle crash on I-287 in Parsippany

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) – New Jersey State Police responded Sunday morning to a report of a motorcycle accident on Interstate 287 near milepost 41.2.

The accident, which resulted in a double fatal, was reported at 11:11 a.m., state police said.

According to state police, a 1994 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by James Ruggiero Jr., 56, of Hamburg, NJ was traveling southbound on I-287 when it ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail.

The impact caused Ruggiero and passenger, Denise Hannon, 53, of Hamburg, N.J. to both be ejected from the motorcycle, state police said.

Ruggiero and Hannon suffered fatal injuries, state police said.

Parisppany Police Department and Fire Department were on scene assisting with the partial lane closures of the local lanes for approximately 3 hours.

All lanes of I-287 SB at milepost 41.2 were reopened at around 2:30 p.m.
